Presented in recognition of outstanding performance in the field of engineering
The BWEA was formed in 2002 for the purpose of designing and implementing upgrades to three wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) at Sandgate, Oxley and Wacol. The alliance brings together the skills and expertise of JWP, Brisbane Water, John Holland, Aquatec Maxcon and MWH. In August of this year, the BWEA completed the $68 million upgrade of Sandgate WWTP and in recognition of this achievement, was awarded the Engineers Australia Excellence Award for Project Management.
The Sandgate project was successfully delivered using state of the art technology and processes. Faced with difficulties in terms of a constrained operating site, alliance members were able to develop innovative plant designs and process solutions by working together and harnessing their broad range of skills and expertise.
This united approach to developing solutions served to impress the judges in their decision to present this significant award to the BWEA.
